Initiatives for a new, inclusive digital era
With the ultimate goal of raising awareness, as well as informing the public on issues of digital accessibility, the General Secretariat of Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures of the Ministry of Digital Governance organized on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, a workshop entitled: "Digital Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Bodies and Organizations – Challenges and prospects of Digital Accessibility
In the context of the digital transformation of the state, no one can be excluded from the benefits of the new digital age. Digital accessibility is undoubtedly, at international and European level, a political, social and moral “obligation” of each state, in order to ensure the principle of universal design and the accessibility of services by the entire population, without exceptions and restrictions.
The General Secretariat for Digital Governance and Simplification of Procedures of the Ministry of Digital Governance, responding to its mission, plans, implements a variety of actions to support and improve the digital accessibility of all public sector organizations.
With the ultimate goal of raising awareness, as well as informing the public on issues of digital accessibility, it organized on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, a workshop entitled: “Digital Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Bodies and Organizations – Challenges and prospects of Digital Accessibility.
Within the framework of the workshop, the 1st Report on monitoring the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public bodies and organizations, which Greece submitted to the Commission of the European Union, was officially presented.
At the same time, it was noted that significant resources of the new Operational Programme “Digital Transformation” 2021-2027 will be allocated to enhance independent living, which will include actions to ensure the accessibility of websites and applications for public mobile devices.
At the same time, issues such as the European strategy for digital accessibility, the role and actions of national institutions in promoting digital accessibility were developed, as well as useful tools for the implementation of digital accessibility standards on websites and mobile applications.
