In the position in which it will operate in the Sea of Israel is now the FPSO “Energean Power“, which will develop Israeli deposits of Energean (LSE: ENOG, TASE), with a production capacity of up to 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and being the first FPSO in history to operate in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Energean Power was transported to Israel from Sembcorp Marine’s Admiralty shipyard in Singapore with two tugs. It was a 5,532 nautical mile voyage that lasted 35 days, in six seas, and also passed through the Suez Canal. The principles of the Canal also created an impressive video about the passage of Energean Power.
Energean will immediately begin the procedures for connection to the drilling and testing operations, including the installation of equipment parts (risers, jumpers), as well as the test operation of the natural gas pipeline.
“I am very pleased that the FPSO ‘Energean Power’ is now in the position where it will operate in Israel. This is an important step in starting natural gas production from the Karish deposit, which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022. We are moving towards the milestone of the start of production by Karish as well as the commercial development of the ‘Olympus Area’ that we recently identified, contributing to energy security and competition in the supply of gas for the wider region.”, said Mathios Rigas, Ceo of Energean Group.
Energean expects the tests to take three to four months before the start of natural gas production, for which planning for the third quarter of the year is maintained.
