OrbiMed and InterWest led a $32 million round of funding for medical eye device company Avedro. With the additional capital the company plans to expand the global distribution of its ophthalmological KXL corneal cross-linking platform. It must be noted that the Mosaic System performs a procedure called PiXL (Photorefractive Intrastromal Cross-Linking) which has the potential to deliver non-surgical correction of myopia, and improve cataract surgery outcomes.
