Weengs just announced Seed funding of 2.2 million pounds in order to expand the transport services provided in London but also in other cities of Europe.
Weengs provides packet services for individuals and small businesses for the whole process of collection, packaging and shipping.
The Startup founders are Alex Christodoulou and Gregory Zontanos who within a year saw the company growing and moving to new premises, which is necessary to cover the expansion of services across London and other citie
The customer uses its Smartphone to photograph the object for sending, giving the desination address. Immediately the cost is displayed, for small objects is about 5 pounds, and within an hour a Weengs personel, receives the object as is from customer and that goes in company warehouses where its carefully packaged and delivered to the cooperating courier services.
The low prices of transport and packaging are the key points of the service, which will remain low if there is high demand. The service is also aimed at small merchants and eBay sellers who can have professional packaging and shipppment at low cost.
Weengs a year ago had gotten private funding from Apostolos Apostolakis, Thanos Triad and LocalGlobe while in this round participated: Cherry Ventures, LocalGlobe, VentureFriends, Seedcamp, Ned Cranborne and Shan Frummond.
