Vikos: Investment of 22 million euros in Ioannina
Vikos, in the context of the great success achieved in recent years in the field of water bottling and not only, proceeds to a new investment announcing the construction of a new unit for the production and bottling of water and soft drinks
Epirotiki Bottling Company (VIKOS) is a family business, which was founded in 1990 and is one of the most well-known and renowned companies in the field of bottled water.
It is a Greek company, which began its productive activity with the bottling, from the homonymous source, of the Natural Mineral Water “Vikos”, which it has since 1992 in the Greek and foreign market while at the same time it is the key supplier of the largest super market chains.
Vikos operates four state-of-the-art factories with vertically integrated production. The two factories (Perivleptos and Kalpaki) produce bottled water and soft drinks and are located in the traditional and strictly protected Zagorohoria (protected residentially and ecologically by the Presidential Decree 26-9-1979), the third factory, PETCOM Plastics, is located in the Industrial Area of Ioannina and produces preforms from PET and caps for the packaging of water, soft drinks and milk while the fourth factory is located in Kaliani of Corinthia and produces bottled water.
Apart from the great and important action of the company and the modern tactics it uses, its huge investment plans are also important.
New “mammoth” investment in Ioannina
Vikos, in the context of the great success achieved in recent years in the field of water bottling and not only, proceeds to a new investment announcing the construction of a new unit for the production and bottling of water and soft drinks.
Specifically, the company creates a new – state-of-the-art industrial plant in Kalpaki in the Municipality of Pogoni, which includes two production lines (glass and can), of the leading German company KRONES.
This is an extremely important development investment of 22 million euros which strengthens the company’s business footprint and clearly states its great growth and the production capacity of the company.
The new facility comes after the great completion of an equally large investment plan, amounting to 25 million euros, over the last five years and is a continuation of the methodical strategy of development and progress that the company consistently follows.
The great potential of the new unit
The new unit has the capacity to produce 42,000 aluminum cans per hour and 20,000 glass bottles per hour. The new production comes on top of the existing one (359,000 per hour) reaching the total capacity of the company at 421,000 bottles per hour, which makes it number one in the country.
At the same time, the new unit is expected to be completed and put into operation by next September, as construction and technical work is in full swing.
This new facility will occupy 8,800 sq. m. (manufacturing plant, bottling plant, storage and ancillary spaces) and upon completion of the unit the total area of the company’s buildings will exceed 87,000 sq.m.
The company’s leading position in the sector
The new investments clearly prove the company’s leading position in the sector, as in this way its production potential is greatly enhanced and at the same time its product range is expanded, creating even more great possibilities and opportunities.
In the midst of all this, Vikos has managed to grow continuously, with a “dynamic flow”, investing steadily in quality and innovation, creating even new jobs and contributing significantly to the wider regional development of Epirus.
