Stymon Natural Products was declared the winner of the Innovation Hub 2021 competition organized by BASF, the leading chemical company, with the support of the Federation of Greek Chemical Industries, on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
The startup, based in Patras, impressed the evaluation committee with its innovative idea of converting vegetable waste from mills into high-value and quality products for the agri-food and feed industry.
“We are excited to win the final of the BASF Innovation Hub 2021. We are confident in the innovation and quality of the products and technologies we develop, but, surely, it is always very nice to see that our efforts are recognized. Especially when it comes to a company with high specialization in research and development such as BASF. We warmly thank the organizers of the competition who offered us the opportunity to present our innovative solution “, stressed Yannis Chaloulos from Stymon Natural Products.
“The selection of the winner was very difficult because all five ideas that qualified for the final were excellent. On Friday, November 12, the Grand Final took place, in which the winners of the local competitions from the 11 countries of central and southern Europe, including Greece, participated”, said Vassilis Gounaris, CEO of BASF Hellas and President of the competition’s evaluation committee.
It should be noted that the competition is held in 11 countries of central and southern Europe, and is addressed to startups as well as to young scientists active in the fields of clean energy, sustainable agriculture and circular economy.
