The biggest celebration of research, innovation and science, that returns to Cyprus for the 15th year and is getting ready to travel the public to the digital and green age, promises to offer an exciting experience.
“European Researchers’ Night” has been under the auspices of the Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Mr Kyriakos Kokkinos and has been organized by the Research and Innovation Foundation, in collaboration with the leading organizations from the field of research, innovation and businesses.
The event will be held digitally due to the pandemic as it happened last year as well.It should be highlighted that during the previous year the visits to the digital booths reached record-numbers, exceeding 18,000.
The event, that will take place on Friday, September 24th 2021, from 08.00 in the morning until 22.00 at night, is inspired by the European Green Agreement and EU’s Digital Strategy with the name “ENGAGE – European Researchers’ Night in Cyprus: Τhe Digital and Green Age”. Its main subject is the promotion of the great role that research and innovation play towards the transition to the digital and green age.
The public will have the chance to experience a digital visit to an impressive digital exhibition hall, where there will be 60 booths, with more than 300 researchers from the research, academic and business community of Cyprus.
The visitors will be able to enjoy a rich program that involves digtal tours to research labs, interactive games, awards, interesting activities and experiments and at the same time they will have the opportunity to receive training material and exchange views through live discussions with the research teams.
In the framework of this event it is also held in hybrid form the S-FACTOR competition through which students are invited to present a scientific phenomenon in an innovative way, in just three minutes, claiming great gifts.
The contest will be held on September 23rd and 24th 2021, at the Strovolos Municipal theatre and there will be online streaming through the platform of the event.The deadline for applications is September 16th 2021.
It should be highlighted that “European Researchers’ Night” is an initiative of the European Commission and is held simultaneously in more than 350 cities in Europe, while it is funded by Marie Sklodowska Curie actions of EU’s research and innovation framework programme, Horizon Europe.
The institution’s main objective is the promotion of research and innovative culture, as well as the promotion of research activity utilized by universities, research centres and innovative businesses of the country.
