Having conquered the milestone of 400 employees at its facilities in Thessaloniki, which was one of the main goals set by its management, and making a significant contribution to both the local and the national economy, Pfizer’s Center for Digital Innovation (CDI) confirms that it is here to change the data in the Greek labor market and in the field of digital innovation, having now entered its third year of operation in Greece. The jobs are highly skilled and the 400 employees are employed in international industrial research and development projects of new technologies.
According to research data from the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE), which estimates the contribution of the CDI to the economy and the labour market for the period 2020-2030, the Centre has a catalytic contribution to both employment and GDP growth.
In detail, the research estimates that the operation of the CDI will support a total of 8,100 annual jobs across the greek economy for the period 2020-2030. The direct contribution of the Centre’s activity to employment over the same period is estimated by the survey at 3,600 annual jobs. This means that every 1 position in the CDI supports 2.3 positions in the entire Greek labour market.

Specifically for the economy of Thessaloniki, the centre’s headquarters, the survey estimates that the total impact of its operation in the period 2020-2030 will reach 447 million euros.
“Apart from developing innovative discoveries that change patients’ lives, the work we do at CDI, here in Thessaloniki, contributes to the national and local economy in many ways: among other things, we create employment opportunities with many quality jobs and contribute to the development of an ecosystem of high-level scientific partnerships. We invest in the human resources and talents of the city and the country and we feel satisfaction that this investment pays off a social and national dividend for the Greeks.”, said CDI’s finance partner Dimitris Papakonstantinou.
