The Greek Polygreen is developing strong business dynamics in the United Arab Emirates, where it participates creatively in the Greek pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, highlighting the important prospects of Greece in the field of circular economy.
“Our activity in the United Arab Emirates confirms our extrovert strategy and the growth potential of our group. The countries of the wider Middle East region have set quite ambitious targets in the areas of recycling and waste management for the coming years, which creates great prospects for Polygreen.”, stated Athanasios Polychronopoulos, founder and CEO of Polygreen.
When asked about Greece’s potential in the field of circular economy, A. Polychronopoulos replied: “We believe that Greece can be a successful example of a circular economy model and at Polygreen we aspire to contribute decisively so that the country can take the decisive step for this transition.This way, we broaden our commitment to the care of the environment, while supporting the country through the enhancement of its competitiveness and the gradual creation of quality jobs”, he stressed.
Besides, Polygreen significantly strengthens our country’s presence at the international exhibition EXPO DUBAI 2020, where the objectives are to enhance the extroversion of the Greek economy, the export activity of Greek businesses and the development of economic partnerships.
The company holds a central position in the pavilion of our country, where under the slogan “The Greece of tomorrow, today”, eight pillars are projected that reflect the dynamic part of the Greek economy and constitute its comparative advantages.
Specifically, the exhibition presents technology / innovation, energy, shipping, tourism and culture, human capital, industry, agro-food and health sciences, under the responsibility of Enterprise Greece, which supports the activation of businesses in international markets and implements initiatives and programs in this direction, including Polygreen.
In fact, Polygreen was recently awarded three major awards at this year’s Circular Economy Awards. Specifically, it won the Gold Award in the recycling category (Compost – Materials Recovery) for the We Sea More II initiative, while for the Just Go Zero Coffee program won the Silver Award in the same category of Recycling (Compost – Materials Recovery) and the Bronze Award in the Zero Waste category.
It is a company that is dynamically active in the circular economy sector worldwide with areas of activity related to Circular Economy solutions, the collection and circular management of waste, the management of hazardous waste, but also the confrontation of marine pollution.
As stated by the General Manager of the company, Lavrentis Alvertis: “The company was founded in 2018 and started its operation in Greece in 2021. It operates as a group of companies, with a significant presence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The result of the joint venture of Polygreen Middle East and Bee’ah, a company in the field of sustainability in the Middle East, is Evogreen, created in June 2021 based in the UAE, with the aim of offering marine and terrestrial environmental management solutions in both the UAE and the wider Middle East region.
According to Mr. Alvertis: “Evogreen covers a wide range of solutions for waste management and the treatment of marine pollution incidents, such as, among others, decontamination services from oil spills, distressed vessel management services, abandoned cargo ship management services, including recycling and material recovery, repair or reconstruction after an accident.Also, it offers green ship recycling services, while it has also proceeded to the creation of a specialized environmental laboratory that will guarantee the high quality of the produced result from the management of hazardous waste.
Evogreen already owns an Alternative Raw Material production plant in Sharjah, while it is currently also constructing an Alternative Solid Fuels production plant, where wastewater will be treated, in order to be converted into alternative fuels, which will be used in cement production.
Finally, as it became known, a three-year contract has already been signed with Sharjah National Oil Company for the treatment of waste from oil drilling, as well as a two-year contract with Emirates Global Aluminium for the treatment of industrial and hazardous waste generated during the production of aluminum, which creates even greater growth prospects for the Greek company.
