Omicron variant leads to safer investments

The Omicron variant poses a dilemma for the global economy, deterring investors from risky decisions and investments. It is known to have a high infectivity, but it is not certain that the symptoms are as serious as the previous variants. Investors are afraid of the consequences of the variant and are turning to “safer” investments, such as gold. However, the positive news comes from Pfizer before Christmas, according to ProfitLevel.

With Omicron, stock markets have also remained alert. The prognosis is not yet catastrophic and it seems that this fight against a more contagious variant could also be addressed. New drugs from pharmaceutical companies, however, will contribute to this, and some are expected to gain the lead in the coming period.

The drug “weapon” for society and entrepreneurship

Pfizer has shown that its new drug against Covid-19 is almost 90% effective in preventing hospitalization and death in high-risk patients. According to laboratory results, the drug is said to maintain its effectiveness against Omicron. This news can be more than positive for many investors and also bring new investment opportunities. Many respond to the new variant by selling out, locking in profits and waiting for more news or the end of 2021.

Pfizer’s product has been tested against placebo and has shown approximately 89% efficiency in preventing death and hospitalization, compared with placebo, based on preliminary results in approximately 1,200 people. None of the Pfizer-treated patients died compared to 12 deaths among those receiving the placebo.

Pfizer’s CEO Mikael Dolsten has said he expects approval soon for even high-risk patients from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other regulators. In the first nine months of this year, as of October 3, 2021, Pfizer revenue rose nearly 91% to  57.65 billion dollars, while stock value rose about 59% in the last year. It seems that the reliability of the vaccine is the only thing that can push people to get vaccinated. The company ‘s shares rose last week and the market share may improve by the end of the year.

The best news about the pandemic usually comes immediately after the approval of a new drug. Already, the results of a recent study in South Africa show that two injections of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer had approximately 70% effective protection against the rapidly spreading Omicron variant.
