The first European conference under the Startup Europe Week was held in Chania, Crete between 4-5 of February, organized by Youth Entrepreneurship Association and co-organized by the Prefecture of Crete.
2 days, more than 400 visitors, 45 speakers, 10 sections, 7 debate moderators, 30 volunteers, 20 hours of lectures, 300+ social media posts, 15 sponsors, 5 media partners , 9 supporters, 5 new startups and 1 contest is account of the event, numbers highly impressive for a “regional” event in Greece.
On the first day there were discussions, activities and presentations on entrepreneurship from public agencies, local agencies, academic institutions, social entrepreneurship structures and from corporate social responsibility personnel.
On the second day they were analyzed funding and European support programs opportunities, while the opinion and their guidance to young entrepreneurs offered by successful entrepreneurs, business consultants, representatives incubators and Venture Capitals.
The seminar culminated with inspiration speeches by investors and international business representatives and successful startups, and the public had the opportunity to watch a competition of Cretan startups that are now taking their first steps.
The winner, onWebChat, an online chat service to web sites, won as a prize the business support package “bizpark” from Microsoft.
Other distinctive presentations were the on demand online supermarket Supermarketnow, an innovative paint from phosphorescent material Enerpaint, an augmented reality platform HEPP and a sustainable development program and beach certification, Costa Nostrum.
