EIT Health: Innovation call for startups in healthcare

EIT Health has announced the RIS Innovation Call 2022, a program for businesses and organizations with early-stage healthcare projects. The aim of the program is to support businesses, as well as academic, research and medical organizations, to implement new ideas that transform health systems. 

Innovative teams from Greece, Italy, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia can participate.

The greek innovation ecosystem, startups, research organizations, academic institutions and health units, is developing great momentum and this is evident by the significant participation in last year’s call.

Each selected group receives funding, mentoring, networking opportunities and gains access to the network of the top healthcare actors in Europe.

Businesses and organizations interested in participating in the competition can submit their application until December 18, 2021.

Participants should meet some requirements. Firstly, the proposal to be submitted by a collaborative scheme between one enterprise (SME) (mandatory) and at least one more partner (academic institution, research institution or healthcare unit).Secondly, the group coordinator should have a registered office/branch/office/operating unit in an area where an EIT Health node is located. In the case of Greece, the coordinator must be based in Attica.Finally, the proposed solutions should be at a certain level of maturity according to the CIMIT model: The projects selected must strictly have gone through stage IML 2 (Idea) and enter stage IML 3 (Proof of Concept) in at least 2 of the out of the 4 sectors).

The solutions should be part of one of the six key focus areas chosen by EIT Health:

1.ReformingCarePathways.
2. Healthcare Transformation.
3. Harnessing Real-world Data.
4. Bringing care home.
5. Health in the workplace.
6.Fostering Healthier Lives.

Each funded project receives a total of up to 75,000 euros for further development of the product or service, with the maximum amount per partner not exceeding 25,000 euros.

Those who have received funding from the respective calls of previous years, as well as those who have received funding from the Programs InnoStars Awards, European Health Catapult, EIT Health Headstart, Startups Meet Pharma and Bridgehead funding for the aforementioned years, may not participate in the programme.
